The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is a non-profit organization which was founded in Boston in 1997. GRI provides a comprehensive Sustainability Reporting Framework that is widely used around the world. The Framework enables all organizations to measure and report their economic, environmental, social and governance performance – the four key areas of sustainability.

On May 4th, 2012, GRI has released a Media Sector Supplement  which is a version of the GRI’s Sustainability Reporting Guidelines tailored for the Media sector. It contains reporting guidance of specific relevance to the sector and aims to enable media to produce sustainability reports that address sector-specific impacts in an internationally comparable way. Several references are made in this document to the ISAS BCP 9001 standard developed by the Media & Society Foundation in order to facilitate the practical implementation of sustainable development in the media sector.

As from June 1st, 2012, on behalf of the Media & Society Foundation,  SGS will provide through its network of 1350 offices around the world (with the exception of Mexico) the ISAS BCP 9001 certification service to electronic media, the press and Internet content producers.
SGS will take over all the certification mandates previously handled by Ethics S.A., including surveillance audits.
This agreement between SGS Group and the Media & Society Foundation is aimed at providing to media from all around the world, a local certification service at competitive rates with experienced auditors belonging to the #1 certification body in the world.

The main FM Radio station of the "Canton de Fribourg" in Switzerland has successfully passed the certification audit and has been found compliant with all the requirements of ISAS BCP 9001 international standard for its activities of design, programming, production and broadcasting of radio programs, including related technical, administrative and financial activities. The certificate of compliance is valid until May 31st, 2014.
